OBSERVER REPORT FOR CCTV SUITABILITY (SAMPLE)

This is a sample report on Observer performance. This document contains extracts from a standard report. There are three main compnents of the report - a statistical indication of results, a grapical indication, and a text report which puts the person's performance in context.

Note the consistent performance over time

Accuracy

Mr Joe demonstrates very strong observation skills in tracking and recognizing behaviour where there is extensive movement and frequent changes in visual information.  His performance is very accurate and consistent and he functions very well under time pressure.  He covers the environment thoroughly, allocating his attention and not getting distracted or looking only at limited elements of the situation.  He can easily and accurately generalise behaviour matches across a range of conditions and types of incidents.  He appears at home in dealing with continual changes in visual information and maintains a strong focus in detecting key behaviours despite distractions and movement.  He can pick up even small differences in visual information and put it in context.

Response Time

Mr Joe responded to identified items exceptionally quickly, detecting and judging the relevance of behaviour almost instantly and executing a quick physical response to his decision.  He appears to be highly efficient in his detection of the incidents he recognises despite the multiple stimuli that are occurring at the same time and quickly processes that an event has occurred.  Combined with high accuracy, this would indicate that his visual processing of information is extremely good.

False Alarms

Mr Joe has well below the typical level of false alarms and appears to be able to be quick and accurate in his perception of behaviour cues.  He seldom initiates a false alarm and is sure in his ability to discriminate between actual incident behaviours and those that are similar to them, even where he is acting under intensive time pressure.  He may display a slight caution at times and prefer to avoid an incorrect decision and his detection rate should be high if he is to perform effectively.
